Malaga is the capital of the Costa del sol and one of the main touristic capitals in Andalusia. The number of inhabitants is approx. half a million, joined by a huge amount of tourists passing every day this gate to sun, sea and holidays. As just said, Malaga is the town where sun, beach and tourism are everywhere, however there is also a Malaga of arts and Pablo Ruiz Picasso, of the international film festivals or of its historic centre, which offers plenty of history. Malaga is famous for its "fiestas" the major ones are held around the 19th of August. Malaga day, fiestas of the patron saints and the most important festival of the whole of Analusia is the "feria" in Malaga.
Malaga is the capital of the Costa del Sol situated at 60km from Marbella; at 100km from Ronda; at 129 km from Granada; at 265 km from Cadiz; it 219 km from SEvilla and at 573 km from Madrid.
Malaga is the perfect location for its public transports: situated here is the International airport Pablo Ruiz Picasso, the train station RENFE which connects the town with the rest of the country and plenty of busses going numberous places in the surroundings as well as the main towns of Andalusia.
In Malaga there is plenty to see like the old historic town, the Plaza de La Merced, la Calle Larios or la Alameda, these are important places and roads in Malaga and the old town is filled with tapa bars and restaurants, with shops and boutiques and plenty of life.
Malaga is the town of monuments and culture, not only for the Picasso museum, Malagas most famous citizen, but also for its cathedral and the Gibralfaro or La Alcazaba castle.
As far as leisurement is regarded, we like to point out the Centre of Plaza Mayor, a centre which is located on the coast near Malaga and near the most imporant tourist destinations of the Costa del Sol, like Marbella and Torremolinos. At only 2km from the airport and perfectly visible from the principal roads, Plaza Mayor also has its own train stop.
Malaga, the capital of the Costa del Sol, has also a very varied cuisine, from chinese restaurants, over traditional cooking to vegetarian places, not to forget the great tapas places in the ald town.
